Thought For Today - 5/5/09
Let's talk about meditation. Many Christians I have talked to think meditation is for people who are into Yoga, sitting in a Lotus position and humming.
Well, mediation is also found in the Bible. One of the meanings of the Hebrew word translated "mediate" in the Bible literally means "to speak to oneself."
Let me give you a simple way to start a meditation practice. Go to the scriptures in the Bible and find a verse or passage that addresses a current need. Spend 15 - 20 minutes meditation it. Say it quietly to yourself. Ponder it. Consider it. Close your eyes and see yourself doing or experiencing that scripture.
Continue to ponder the verse or passage as you lay down at night. Your spirit will continue to soak in revelation even while you sleep. As you do this, that truth will become more and more alive in your spirit, and that seed will be planted more deeply in your heart.
Yes, it requires concentration and commitment. The rewards are abundant life, victory, health, prosperity, success, and the most precious reward of all - great intimacy with your Heavenly Father.
By the way, you can sit in a Lotus position.:)
Much love,
Joseph
