Thought For Today - 5/31/09

Too often when people get into a challenging situation, they tend to turn away from God. They may blame God for them getting into the situation. But, this is not the time to question God about His faithfulness.

When situations keep going on and on and on and they don't seem to be in line with the promises of God, don't blame God. He is not missing it and He is not failing you.

If you are going to question anyone - question yourself. Look and see where you may have missed it. If you can't find out what the problem is, just tell God you don't know what is wrong and ask for Him to help and show you.

Be sure to tell God that you know that problem is not with Him. Let Him know you will continue to trust, believe and have faith in Him and His Word. Only then can God actually reveal what is going on to you. Why? Because now your spirit is really to receive. When God reveals it make changes quick!

Stand firm and keep honoring God with your words. He is listening to you when the pressure is on.

Much love,
Joseph

My Birthday is Today - 5/30/09

Today, I celebrate 52 years of life! I have so many things to be thankful for such as life, health, friends, two fine boys, a grandson, home, vehicle, opportunities to generate income and Yoga. However, the greatest thing I'm most grateful and thankful for is God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Over 30 years ago I took God at His Word. I confessed that Jesus is Lord. I believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I began to thank Jesus for coming into my heart, for giving me His Holy Spirit as He promised and for being Lord over my life.

I made a decision that I would live a holy life unto God. Living a holy life is not easy and has not been easy. One just can not coast along doing what everyone else is doing and be holy. It takes determination. It takes effort. It takes submitting yourself to God when, naturally speaking, you might want to do something else.

There were times, deep inside, I knew I was not giving God top priority - not living a holy lifestyle. Today, May 30, 2009, that decision has been made to be holy! The decision has been made to live unto God. The rewards are rich. "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." Hebrew 12:14

Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/29/09

Think about the next time you are tempted to complain about the things life brings your way. Remember that whatever you have been casting out there (some say putting it out in the universe) is always what you find on down the road.

If you have been giving doubt, unbelief and fear, that is what has been coming to you. If you have been giving nothing, then nothing is what you get!

You are holding the seeds of your own future in your hand right now. Step out in faith and use them to put the supernatural cycle of blessing in motion. Start now planting one good seed after another. Eventually you will enjoy a good harvest every single day!

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/28/09

Choices are really simple. We make them challenging. At least I did. Several days ago, I spend some quiet time away from work, cell phone, email, etc. As I got quiet, God spoke to me saying that connecting with Him is a simple choice. All it requires is giving myself to His Word every day of my life - hearing and obeying what He has to say to me personally in the Word and being diligent to keep it in my heart.

God stated spending time with Him who loves me is simple. His Word, coming from His heart to mines, is the source of my blessed life.

My time is the most valuable thing I have and however I decide to spend it determines how my life will play out. When I spend time every day in the Word and in prayer, I set myself up for God to work out His detailed plan for my life.

Having a regular time and place for a daily reading schedule and communication with God is foundational to making the connection with His Word I will need daily for living productively and effectively.

Years ago I began to set aside my early morning hours and discovered that time worked best for me - before my day's activities begin. However, I got off track, but am now back on it. What about you?

Much love,
Joseph

We all will have to address certain questions regarding out lives one day. We will reach a place in our lives when we will ask "Who is in charge of my life? Why are things not working out the way I want them to?" These are just a couple of the questions.

No matter what you might think or not think, say or not say, at some point you will become conscious that you feel incomplete. You will find you don't process the ability to get you through crisis. You are limited in what you can do.

When you become aware of your limitations, only then will you begin to consider that you are not in control of your life. But, there is a God who will guide and led me to a place where I didn't welcome before.

Your life will and is changing. My life is changing. I'm moving in a direction that I had never anticipated. I have surrender all to God. I asked Him to take full 100% control of my life. I'm saying, "Not my will God, but Yours." This is the prayer that I feared for so long, but is required in order to move into the Master Plan that God has for me.

I am putting my faith in God. I commit all to Him, my spirit, my mind, my heart, my body, my life and whatever else He wants.

How about you?

Joseph

I know from personal experience including recent that when people start to criticize me and persecute me because of my faith stand with God, my natural human response is to want to strike back. It's easy to want to start dishing out a little criticism of my own.

But you know what? My words will just add fuel to their fire and they will just end up criticizing me harder and louder than they did before.

What I found works for me is this . . . keep on blessing them, keep praying for them, just keep doing what God has called me to do.

The enemy wants me to wrapped up in the criticism. He wants to distract me, to get my mind off the job God has given me. He really wants me to quit!

Instead, I will continue in the things I have learned and has been assured of. I will continue to do good and continue to live by faith. And, get this - when all their foolish words have faded away, I will yet be standing strong in the power of God!

So, my advice to you - do the same.:)

Joseph

Memorial Day - 5/25/09

Today we celebrate Memorial Day in the United States of America for the individuals who gave and are giving their lives for us.

My prayer for them . .

Father, I pray, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, for our president, the vice president, all the Cabinet and the chief justice and associate justices of the Supreme Court to receive the wisdom of God, to act in obedience to that wisdom and for the power of God to flow in their lives.

I pray for the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to find Your peace and direction, and for these men and women to act and lead according to Your Word. A house divided against itself cannot stand, therefore, I pray for them to be unified in righteousness for the sake of the nation.

We are still a nation that honors and respect Your Name. We are yet a free people who worship You in truth and spirit. We are a people of faith and we are not moved by the odds against us. We will continue to fight the good fight of faith and praise You while we do it.

We are free and our trust is in You Father. You have preserved us as a nation and will continue to do so. We will always triumph! We are the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I especially pray for Your protection to cover all our law enforcement officers and the men and women of the military. I pray that You and Your kingdom of righteousness be manifested in the hearts of all those who are in authority in any way.

Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayers that are in accordance to Your will. Amen.

Much love,
Joseph

In order to hear clearly from God, you must get rid of all of the noise in your spirit. Darkness, Satan, the devil is the force behind all of the noise that will distract you from paying close attention to God.

Example are such things as flu epidemic, hurricanes, tsunamis, terrorism and threats of war and economic distress, just to name a few. These are tactics that will take your focus off of God and His Word. But, if you stay rooted and grounded in God and His Word, your spirit will grow to a place where the sources of fear cannot enter in and tear down your stronghold of faith!

Make a decision today. You must decide what you will give your attention to. Either the noise from the world which is full of pressure, anxiety, faith in money, etc, or put your attention, your focus on God and His Word.

I'm choosing God and His Word!

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/23/09

A few days ago, I was questioning God regarding a few things going on in my life. My spirit was somewhat confused regarding the situations I found myself in. As I spent time in meditation, talking these things out - out loud, seeing and receiving wisdom, a clear voice came to me.

The information received was as a believer in God with His Spirit dwelling inside of me, I was now designed and equipped to recognize and refuse confusion and to hear clearly and act confidently on information from heaven, regardless of the circumstances!

I was instructed if there is a problem in my life, it was not with God not speaking, leading or guiding me. It was not that His Spirit telling me what to do. It was WITH ME! I had to clean our my spiritual ears. I'm trying to be brief as much as possible here . . .

I repented to God and told Him that He is a responsible God. He is faithful and He is just. I told God not only that, but He is faithful and just to me. And, He is faithful to His Word and promises, including His promises to me!

There is nothing hidden or confused in God. If you are experiencing confusion in any shape or form, stop! Find out what God is saying about your situations. He will communicate with you in a clear and free manner. Only then will you as I can begin to get answers to our questions.

Darkness does not come to tempt you while God is off somewhere else, unaware of what is happening to you. The Spirit of God is constantly there with you, providing you with the way to overcome.

In other words, God matches even the toughest temptations with the weapons and power you need to conquer them. He always makes it possible for you to choose life.

So choose to walk in love. Choose to walk by faith. Choose to live by the Word. Jesus is the way! Choose Him and be free!

Next time you catch yourself struggling to make up to God for something you have done wrong, working to win His approval, let the story of the prodigal son set you free. Let this story in the Bible remind you that, in spite of your sins, your Father has received you with open arms. He has put a robe of righteousness on your back with His signet ring on your hand. He has put the shoes of sonship and daughtership on your feet!

Do you feel unworthy of all that? God has not based His relationship with you on your worthiness. He has based it on His love for you! You don't have to struggle to prove yourself to Him. As far as God is concerned, you are a proven success!

What does it mean to make God's Word the final authority? It means believing what He says instead of believing what people say. It means believing what He says instead of what Satan says. It means believing what He says instead of what the circumstances say.

Determine in your heart to do that today. Make up your mind to live by faith, not by sight. Fearlessly commit yourself to the authority of God's Word and there will not be anything in this unstable world that can steal your security from you.

First John 3:20-22 tells us that we have confidence toward God when we do the things that are pleasing in His sight. If we only serve God half-heatedly, then we will not have confidence in Him to deliver us from trouble.

When danger surrounds us, instead of being filled with faith, we will find ourselves paralyzed with fear!

Love and serve God with your whole heart. Walk closely with Him in the good times. Then, when you need Him to be your Deliverer, you will know without a doubt you can trust Him to care for you!

If I pray for God to solve one problem for you, you may enjoy success for a while, but then another problem will come along because you are yet making the same old mistake that got you in trouble the first time.

But if you buckle down and do that praying for yourself, if you discipline yourself to start searching out the thing of the Spirit, you will get permanent answers. You will learn how to make adjustments in your life that will keep those problems from cropping up again.

Don't depend on others to do your praying for you. Go personally to the throne of God today!

Thought For Today - 5/17/09

Don't put yourself in a position where God has to talk to you about your attitude. Rate your own ability soberly. Adopt an attitude of humility. Keep a watch on yourself. When you see yourself getting the "big head" with your own greatness, repent right then - don't wait! Know that every good thing you are enjoying and every piece of success you have had has come by the grace of God and by His power.

Take a look back on your life and see how many times you could have lost ALL what God had given you. See how many times, when you were making every mistake imaginable, His tender and precious mercy pulled you through.

Don't take credit for something that God did in your life. Instead, humble yourself beneath the mighty hand of God, and let God do the exalting - that prevents some very painful falls.

Much love,
Joseph

It is amazing how many people are ready to hear what you have to say when you say it in love. People are starved for someone to really care. How about you being that someone today?

Tell someone today how much you appreciate them. Let them see the love of God in you! Who knows how many of those small seeds you plant may one day take root and bring one more precious person into the kingdom of God?

Much love,

When you make a mistake, when you miss the mark, run to Jesus! He knows what you are going through. You don't need to be afraid. He didn't tear you apart for the mistakes and sins you committed before you made Him Lord of your life, did He?

Then, how much more merciful and loving do you think He will be now that you are His own? Now that you are reaching out for Him and have a heart for him?

Don't run from God. Run to Him! Receive His forgiveness. Receive His cleansing. No matter how badly you have missed the mark, made mistakes and sinned, He is eager to forgive and to cleanse you of all unrighteousness. I know. Because I have been there and He was waiting for me with open arms.

No matter what situation occurs in our lives, we CAN keep our word to ourselves or to another person. Lying, either to others or to ourselves should never be an option. For us to be whole (spirit, mind, body)requires us to be honest ourselves.

From personal experience, being honest with myself, keeping my word to myself and forgiving myself has allowed me to move forward and not to live in the past. My healing, my prosperity, my success is in my power - my thoughts, my confessions, my attitudes and my releasing of my will and chose the will of God.

We stop the power of God from being ministered to us when we don't obey His Spirit. God's Holy Spirit lives in us. His Spirit teaches us. He trains and counsels us. We must be sensitive to His teaching. To obey God's command we first have to hear it.

What can God do for you if you won't obey Him? If we don't understand the ways of God we can be deaf to His calling, ignorant of His will and, eventually, callous to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

If we, today, will turn toward God with our whole hearts and see His face and obey His voice,, even though we may have been disobedient in the past, we will find Him ready to get involved. We will begin to experience His delivering power the way we have desired. His mercy endures forever. It is never too late with God!

Strife drops the shield of faith, stops prayer results, and invites darkness into your life. Discord is very deadly. It paralyzes the power of God in your life.

Do not allow the enemy to stop you at your own front door by allowing strife in your home. If you do, you will be no threat to darkness anywhere else.

Put the power of harmony to work in your family!

Meaning of Namaste

I generally don't respond to comments regarding the blogs I write. However, I felt a need to with one.

When I say "Namaste" after each class I teach, the meaning to me is "I'm thanking the students for attending class" and when the students say "Namaste" to me they are saying "Thank you Joseph for teaching the class." Namaste can have many meanings. The above is the one that I chose.

Below is information retreive from yogajournal.com regarding the word "Namaste."

What does "Namaste" mean? My yoga teacher says it every week after our practice and I've always wanted to know.

—Rita Geno

Aadil Palkhivala's reply:
The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "Nama" means bow, "as" means I, and "te" means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me you" or "I bow to you."

To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the heart charka, close the eyes, and bow the head. It can also be done by placing the hands together in front of the third eye, bowing the head, and then bringing the hands down to the heart. This is an especially deep form of respect. Although in the West the word "Namaste" is usually spoken in conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word while bowing.

We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes helps the mind surrender to the Divine in the heart. One can do Namaste to oneself as a meditation technique to go deeper inside the heart chakra; when done with someone else, it is also a beautiful, albeit quick, meditation.

For a teacher and student, Namaste allows two individuals to come together energetically to a place of connection and timelessness, free from the bonds of ego-connection. If it is done with deep feeling in the heart and with the mind surrendered, a deep union of spirits can blossom.

Ideally, Namaste should be done both at the beginning and at the end of class. Usually, it is done at the end of class because the mind is less active and the energy in the room is more peaceful. The teacher initiates Namaste as a symbol of gratitude and respect toward her students and her own teachers and in return invites the students to connect with their lineage, thereby allowing the truth to flow—the truth that we are all one when we live from the heart.

Recognized as one of the world's top yoga teachers, Aadil Palkhivala began studying yoga at the age of seven with B.K.S. Iyengar and was introduced to Sri Aurobindo's yoga three years later. He received the Advanced Yoga Teacher's Certificate at the age of 22 and is the founder-director of internationally renowned Yoga Centers™ in Bellevue, Washington. Love is the power charge. The power of God in your life just won't work without it. That is why we have seen so many people fail in the Body of Christ.

Starting today, you and I can turn those failures around. We can make up our minds to let the Word of God dwell richly within us. We can set our hearts on keeping the commands of Jesus and speak His Name with confidence and authority.

But, most important of all, we can begin to love one another. Then we will truly see the power of God begin to flow.

Good success is a way of life that comes from being established in the Word of God. It comes from spending so much of your time and your thought life on the Word that it becomes what you and I could call "second nature."

It comes from hearing and obeying the Word so consistently that it begins to guide your actions even when you are not consciously thinking about it.

Begin a practice of meditating on the Word of God. Let it become part of you. See yourself obeying it in every possible circumstance. It will guarantee you "good success."

One of the most important truths you can ever grasp in your Christian life is this: with God, there is an appointed time and a due season for everything.

God has established season of time for every purpose in your life. He sees the end from the beginning and has a master time sheet with ordered seasons for all things to take place.

This is a concept you must keep in mind as you begin to pray and believe for certain things in your life.

You may be wondering about some things today. You may be saying, "God, when is my business going to take off?" There is a due season. "Where is the husband or wife I desire so greatly?" There is a due season. Your time is coming.

The key to avoiding frustration, fear and the temptation to quit when standing in faith on God's Word is understanding there is a time and due season for everything.

Trust God's timing for your life!

Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/8/09

Sin manifests itself in three ways, in thought, in acts, in nature. Salvation is a complete transformation. God takes possession of man, changes his thoughts, and in consequences his acts change, his nature is new.

A Christian is not a reformed individual. A Christian is an individual that is renewed, remade by the Spirit of God. A Christian is an individual indwelt by God. That individual, indwelt by God, becomes the hands, and the heart, and the feet, and the mind of Jesus Christ.

When you become a Christian, you now have the greatest and biggest gift that heaven or earth ever possessed. God have you Himself. He joins you by the one Spirit to Himself forever. You have become a new creature, a saved man or woman - God filled.

Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/7/09 (National Prayer Day)

With today being the National Prayer Day. I felt this prayer is fitting . . .

Father God, I come before You in the Name of Jesus on behalf of the leaders of the United States of America. First of all in accordance with 1 Timothy 2:1-2, I intercede and give thanks for kings and all in authority and expect to live a quiet and peaceable life. I pray for the Word of God to be given free course and Your people to be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2).

The heart of the king is in Your hand and You will turn it whichever way You choose (Proverbs 21:1). I ask You to direct the heart and mind of the leaders of this United States of America to make decisions that will lead the country in Your ways and according to Your Word.

I thank you, Lord, for bringing change to the politics of the United States of America. Thank You for changing the voices of influence to speak in agreement with Your Word. I ask You to send laborers filled with the spirit of wisdom and might, to surround the leaders of the United States of America with godly counsel and insight.

I also ask you to remove from positions of authority those who stubbornly oppose righteousness, and replace them with men and women who will follow You and Your appointed course for the United States of America.

As we enter the final hours of the last days, I ask for the spirit of faith, the workings of miracles, for signs, wonders, gifts and demonstrations of the Holy Spirit and power to be in strong operation. Let believers in the United States of America and in every land be unified to stand strong by faith in Jesus, the Anointed One and His anointing, that Your glory may be revealed in all the earth.

Thank you, Lord, that these requests come to pass. I believe I receive. Amen.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/6/09

I felt a strong need to put this in the blog today . . . taken from 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 (New International Reader's Version)

12 Some of you say, "Everything is permitted for me." But not everything is good for me. Again some of you say, "Everything is permitted for me." But I will not be controlled by anything.

13 Some of you say, "Food is for the stomach. And the stomach is for food." But God will destroy both of them. The body is not meant for sexual sins. The body is meant for the Lord. And the Lord is meant for the body.

14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead. He will also raise us up.

15 Don't you know that your bodies belong to the body of Christ? Should I take what belongs to Christ and join it to a prostitute (outside of marriage)? Never!

16 Don't you know that when you join yourself to a prostitute (outside of marriage), you become one with her in body? Scripture says, "The two will become one."—(Genesis 2:24)

17 But anyone who is joined to the Lord becomes one with him in spirit.

18 Keep far away from sexual sins. All the other sins a person commits are outside his body. But sexual sins are sins against one's own body.

19 Don't you know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit? The Spirit is in you. You have received him from God. You do not belong to yourselves.

20 Christ has paid the price for you. So use your bodies in a way that honors God.

Conflict - Heart (spirit) & Mind

Monday evening, my spirit was quiet and somewhat trouble and I just took some quiet time and went to Jason's Deli to just chill before my 8:15pm class in Dallas.

God showed me how my mind and my heart (spirit) were in battle on which was going to be the ruler. Generally, males are pushed to use their mental strength while girls are pushed to use their hearts.

God showed me when my mind is trying to lead - I suffer emotionally - mainly because I give in to the enemy. But, when my heart is trying to lead - I experience illusions.

God showed me at the end I have to break the pattern and make choices that will bring the mind and heart in balance. I totally believe some of you reading this blog are experiencing the same thing.

Just thought I would share.

Much love,
Joseph

Let's talk about meditation. Many Christians I have talked to think meditation is for people who are into Yoga, sitting in a Lotus position and humming.

Well, mediation is also found in the Bible. One of the meanings of the Hebrew word translated "mediate" in the Bible literally means "to speak to oneself."

Let me give you a simple way to start a meditation practice. Go to the scriptures in the Bible and find a verse or passage that addresses a current need. Spend 15 - 20 minutes meditation it. Say it quietly to yourself. Ponder it. Consider it. Close your eyes and see yourself doing or experiencing that scripture.

Continue to ponder the verse or passage as you lay down at night. Your spirit will continue to soak in revelation even while you sleep. As you do this, that truth will become more and more alive in your spirit, and that seed will be planted more deeply in your heart.

Yes, it requires concentration and commitment. The rewards are abundant life, victory, health, prosperity, success, and the most precious reward of all - great intimacy with your Heavenly Father.

By the way, you can sit in a Lotus position.:)

Knowing the truth about God puts limits on you and shows you His boundaries. Realizing the truth of His unchangeable reality helps you to define yourself in relation to Him.

When He says that you will reap what you sow, you either define yourself in relation to that reality, or continue to get injured if you try to go against it. To be in touch with God's truth is to be in touch with reality, and to live in accord with that reality makes for a better life!

There is always safety in the truth, whether it be knowing God's truth or knowing the truth about yourself. Many people live scattered and tumultuous lives trying to live outside of their own boundaries, not accepting and expressing the truth of who they are. Honesty about who you are gives you the biblical value of integrity.

Joseph

Many people fall for certain money making schemes, because they want prosperity. If a person sees a opportunity that looks good to make money, he will go after it. A great deal of people become victims to get rich quick schemes.

True prosperity comes ONLY from the Lord. You must seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, then shall all these things be added unto you! This is God's way for true prosperity.

You have to have the wisdom of God in order to refuse the world's way of prosperity, and choose to walk in God's way of prosperity. You must also understand that Godly prosperity is related to your spiritual attitude!

Something to think about?

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/2/09

Now, you and I know people who have disagreed with God most if not all of the days they have been living. They refuse to listen to God. They refuse to ask Him for direction. They do not realize God has a unique and Master plan for their lives!

God dose not change His mind about what He has planned for you. You may decide to live life "your way," but that does not change the plan of God for you!

You can get in on God's Master plan for you today, you can wait until tomorrow or you can wait until your life is almost over. God gives everyone the same opportunity - the same call to come on over to the place He has prepared for them.

I would say to you, get in on God's Master plan for your life today! Start your walk on the path to His perfect place for you right now. There is not a better time. After all, God's Master plan is the highest and most blessed plan. You will love it!

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 5/1/09

The key to walking out God's Master Plan for my life and staying secure in our place, is to always desire our heart to be in line with His heart.

I do say "Lord, I appreciate it so much when You correct me. Thank You for teaching me. Thank you for correcting me. Thanks You for pointing out anything in my life You want me to change or where I'm missing it."

If we continually look to the Holy Spirit to keep us on track, we know we will be in the right place every moment of our lives. We will have in our heart what He wants us to do, and we will set ourselves up for continuous blessing. We will move in the right direction in our homes, in our ministries and in our workplaces - we will stay on target in God's Master Plan for us!

Much love,
Joseph
