Thought For Today - 3/31/10

I was thinking the other day, forgiving someone sounds like a simple thing to do. Yet few of us actually do it. We treat forgiveness as if it were one of life's additional options, something we can take or leave alone.

But it's not. It's a basic requirement for every person who wants to walk in the blessing of God!

Make it a point to spend time with God, allowing Him to reveal the unforgiveness in you (if there is). Then repent and release it.

Make the rest of this year more than just a time for remembering. Make it a time to forget.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/30/10

I grew up in a home where my mother kept plastic covers on the couch in the living room in order to protect it. The irony is that we lived our lives without ever having actually made contact with that couch!

My mother would say she was saving use of the couch for special occasions, as if everyday life was not special enough for us (her family) to warrant the use of sitting on the couch.

Down through the years I learned what it would mean to me if for example I worn my nicest clothes and ate off the good china on a daily basis. I now see every day that I'm alive as a special day and a cause for celebration, and that I'm worth it.

If there are things you have stashed away for a special occasion — a bottle of special wine, a gorgeous pair of shoes, an antique lace tablecloth — consider taking them out of their hiding places and putting them to use tonight, just because you are alive now to enjoy them, and that’s a great cause for a celebration.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/29/10

Walking in the love of God is a daily walk. There will be opportunities for offense to take you out of your love walk.

If may even have days when you have difficulty remaining unaffected by someone’s behavior. During this time, take a moment to breathe deeply and remind yourself that you did not do anything wrong, and you are not responsible for people’s feelings. But you are responsible how you react to them!

This person may actually be expressing a need to you - reaching out for help or wanting to be heard. You can diffuse the attack by keeping cool and looking at them out of the eyes of Love (God).

You cannot control other people’s emotions, but you can control your own with the help of God. If you sense yourself responding to their negativity, don't allow yourself. Keep your heart open to them, show them love and they may just let go of their defensiveness and yield to your compassion, openness and love.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/28/10

One day you will wake up and know what you are to do regarding your life. You will calmly be persistent, consistent, and clear as you communicate this to those within your circle.

At the same time, you have the right to say that - you are tired of talking about it and simply need your choices to be respected.

Your life belongs to you and so does your decisions. Those who truly love you will stand by you and support your choices, never mind what’s popular.

Much love,
Joseph

Pretty simple - don't turn down the wealth God wants to give you just because you don't "need" it.

Accept it, then pass it along to those who do. Stop working for a living and start working for a "giving." Discover for yourself what riches were really meant to do.

My main goal for working is so I can become a distribution to others.

Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/26/10

Times will come when you have to stand strictly on faith. You will have to speak and act as though what God says is true even when you can't feel it or see it happening around you.

There will be times when everything looks terrible. Living by faith is not something you try. It's a lifestyle. You do it when it's hard. You do it when it's easy. You do it all the time because you're not doing it just to get in on the benefits. You're doing it because you know that faith pleases God!

Things can get challenging at times, but let me assure you, you will always come out on top if you endure the challenges. If you refuse to faint and fall away, you will have the victory. You are only defeated when you quit!

Much love,
Joseph

Many people equate financially prosperity with happiness, power, security, independence and self-indulgence.

From personal experience, money itself is none of these things! You can develop a healthier view of wealth by simply accepting that prosperity describes a individual being whole - spirit, mind and body.

Your spirit is reborn with the love of God. Your mind is renewed by the Word of God. Your body is retrained by the wisdom of God. If you have only one or two of the three, you are not whole.

We all have the potential to be whole, the potential to to live lives of beauty, substance and wisdom.

Money is merely an instrument of exchange that can be used both constructively and destructively. How are you using yours?

Joseph

As we mature in life whether in age or experience, we will begin to experience transition. This is the time when we should take the time to get in touch with our inner selves.

Here is the time to look at our spirit and human experiences. Look and exam where you have been, what you learned and see how these can point you in the direction you should be going in the future.

Yes, as we mature in life, we will begin to see things from another perspective which will give us different experiences, a new way of understanding and a wonderful way to celebrate life!

I'm enjoying mine.:)

I want you to begin to develop an addiction today - an addiction to the Word of God. That may sound odd to you, especially if you don't have much of an interest in the Word right now. But, believe me, it's possible. I've done it myself and I have been order to let it be my addiction, time and again.

All you have to do is make a decision to give yourself to it. To focus your time and attention on it. The more you give yourself to it, the more your desire for it will grow. Eventually, it will consume your thinking.

Much love,
Joseph

The Word of God will direct us to truth. It speaks directly to every major issue in our lives. We have no excuse to be unaware of God's Word on any subject!

If you give God your attention every day, every day He will give you direction. His ultimate purpose is that we live in The Blessing!

Joseph

The words we speak reflect what we have in our hearts and in our minds - how we really think about things. And we develop our thoughts from what we continually hear and see.

If we get our information from past experiences, family history or evening news, and let those sources determine how we think about our lives, we will find ourselves in trouble. We will judge our trials and tests based on that information and it will determine the outcome.

But if we get our information from God's Word, and from people who have experienced success through His Word, we will find ourselves overcoming the challenges we face.

Joseph

What do you do when you face one of the many challenges life holds for all of us? How do you make it through times of trial? How do you tap into that world-overcoming victory, and pass the tests?

God has every answer for every test we face in His Word. All we have to do is go to the Book - the Word of God, open it up, find the answers and take a few simple steps to solve every problem.

What are you waiting for?

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/19/10

There are days when I talk to my sons on any subject and somehow the Word of God comes into place. They then say "Dad, let us take a seat so we can get comfortable, because we know you are about to get excited when you talk about God." I love those boys!

Yes, I get excited about talking to God. Because I know who He is, what He is to me and where I would be if I didn't know Him!

There are days when I say to God "Now what will people think of me if I do that? What if I start believing for something and it doesn't happen? I won't look too good, will I?"

But, I found out it doesn't matter how I look! It's obeying God that counts. When it comes to obeying God, my own reputation doesn't count; and the sooner I forget it, the better I will be.

But what's ironic is once I followed through on what God asked me to do, my reputation got better. It's a funny thing. When I lost that desire to protect my image, my image improved. Why? Because people were then able to see not Joseph but the image of the Lord Jesus coming through.

I said all of the above to say this, God promised He will never leave me or forsake me. I had to grab hold of that this week due to a situation I had. I had to believe it and act on it. Once I did, I again realized fear was no longer there!

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/18/10

I use to try to run around and find people who didn't know God, trying to find what they perceive their relationship to God was, when in truth, I really didn't know I was doing and going about it the wrong way.

I came to the conclusion, "I Don't Know Who Knows God." Therefore, I now take the time to find out who a person is, what is going on in their life and it comes forth as to what their relationship with God is.

I was surprise that every time I just shared the love of God with them, the valuable information they gained was more than I could ever hope for.

So, what I'm really saying, just love people and let God do the rest!

Much love,
Joseph

I believe the impact I have on the world is greater than I can ever imagine, including the choices I made and will make can have far-reaching consequences.

How can I or do I do this? By applying the Love of God to make a positive difference and spread waves of kindness that can wash over the world.

Look and seek for opportunities to arise, the recipient of a good deed will likely feel compelled to do a good deed for someone else and continue and continue . . .

I do believe in my ability to be a point of origin that can create and spread goodness.

You have the power to touch the lives of everyone you come into contact with and everyone those people come into contact with. The momentum of your influence will grow as you continue to moves onward and outward.

2 Hour Yoga Workshop - 3/27/10 @ Twist Power Yoga

Hey, I'm donating my time for a very worthy cause, teaching a special Vinyasa Yoga workshop to benefit a mission trip to Botswana, Africa. Melanie Forster has been a Yoga student with me for over a year and she will be leaving this May for Botswana.

If you would like to learn more about the organization coordinating Melanie's mission trip, check out the Love Botswana Outreach Mission (www.lovebotswana.org.) website.

So there are at least TWO great reasons for you to attend this special benefit workshop:

1. Help support Melanie's mission trip to Botswana.
2. Find a new vitality, straighter spine, calmer mind, and healthier, happier you.

The workshop will focus on the structural alignment of the body, the breathing and the flow of the mind, which are all connected. Alignment is the precise way in which the body should be positioned in each Yoga pose in order to obtain the maximum benefit from the pose and avoid injury.

By the end of the workshop, you will be inspired and more confident of where your alignment should be. Also, no matter what level you are at, you will be able to fully enjoy this workshop.

Please bring a small towel and, if you have one, a Yoga mat. If you don't have a mat, we will have a few for you to borrow.

The workshop will be held at Twist Power Yoga Studio (http://www.twistpoweryoga.com) on Saturday, March 27, 1:15pm - 3:30pm.

You can contact Melanie at melanierose327@yahoo.com for additional information.

It can happen. If you allow your intellectual knowledge take control, it can easily cloud your direct experience.

If you are guided through life solely by your intellect, by your ideas of what you know, you become robbed of a sense of discovery.

From personal experience, from a non-conceptual awareness which has allowed me to approach each moment as fresh and new.

A depth of wisdom will arise from such immediacy, and lead to greater wonder about the life. You will then and only then realize just how little you know.

Joseph

Thoughts For Today - 3/15/10

I had to remind myself the other day on the insights I have gained with time and how my at present differs from the range of experiences I lived through in the past.

I now have strengths, aptitudes, and inner qualities I attribute to myself which has helped me accept that I am not the same person I was even one year ago, five years ago, or 10 years ago.

My attitudes, opinions, and values are markedly different, and these differences can be ascribed to my willingness to accept that I yet have much to learn.

If you have difficulty giving yourself credit for changes in your life, think about the goals you realized, the lives you touched, the wisdom you acquired, and the level of enlightenment you attained over the past years.

Joseph

It use to be challenging for me to come straight out and tell friends how much I love and appreciated them.

I use to feel awkward expressing deep feelings, even to my nearest and dearest, because it is not a common practice in the world we live in. I would get choked up or embarrassed in the process, or sometimes even fear I would embarrass them.

Yet, I had those moments when I realized just how fortunate I was to have the friends I had. I came to realize it was a tremendous benefit to my friends to be at the receiving end of my appreciation.

There were also times I took writing a letter that helped me say what I wanted to say without feeling self-conscious. Additionally, those letters gave my friends the space to really take in my expression of love and the gift of being able to return to it time and again.

Anyone you want to write a letter to today? (smile)

Hey, received this the other day from a friend and I thought it was worth sharing.

Much love,
Joseph

We take for granted our time, but in this busy outer world we live in, time is extremely important; take the process of going grocery shopping if takes a reasonable amount of time (1 to 2 hrs) out of your already busy day.

Now so people go to the grocery store multiple times a week, this adds up not only in time but also money, gas, health, responsibilities, stress, pain and suffering.

Just going to the store multiple times brings all this on, think about it, if you made a list go to the store only once a week, how much better you would feel, this would give you the time for your passions.

It may not be the grocery store for you, but I bet all of us have place we go to multiple time a week, that’s physically and mentally, what are we doing? Wasting time.

In the hour of test and trial, when circumstances seem to toss you this way and that, hold fast to God! Maintain determination of mind, will, and purpose and say with assurance, "I will walk with the Father. I will let Him work out His purpose in my life."

By staying consecrated even when it's difficult to do so, you will have learned the great lesson of obedience and consecration and faith.

And, as you daily choose to obey God's will and run the race He has set before you, you will be a blessing to many. And God will lead you to a wide, open place - a place of abundance in every area of your life!

Joseph

I learned some time ago that forgiveness is not something I do solely for the person who hurt me. It is something I do for myself, for the sake of my own inner freedom and relationship with God.

I forgive so I can live in the present (free) instead of being stuck in the past. I forgive because my grievances and grudges — even more than hopes and attachments and fears will bind me to old patterns, old identities, and failures.

I use to even think forgiving was excusing a wrong done to me or holding on to the anger somehow gave me back the power their offense took away.

And, there have been times I believed I had already forgiven. But found I yet had grievance on the inside.

The only way I was able to help myself was turning to God for help and direction in this area of my life. It did not happen over night, but I am NOW set free. You too can be set free!

Give it to God. How about today?

Much love,
Joseph

I believe many people assume being in love means we are supposed to walk off into the sunset together and live happily ever after.

From person experience, two people can be close, love each other deeply and romantically, and not be suited to have a long-term relationship. In fact, having a soul-mate connection does not necessarily mean you are in for a permanent relationship.

Many people I believe (I use to believe it too) sense a strong connection as a sign that you are to be together forever. But, I have found this feeling of being soul mates can actually be drawing the two of you together so that you'll work out some unfinished business or help each other in some specific but limited way.

If you are willing to accept the fact that you may not be a couple is the first step toward keeping the love while letting go of the suffering. There may still be pain loss and endings can be painful.

By accepting the loss you open the door for a different kind of flowering, between either you and this person or you and someone else.

My suggestion? Every time you feel the love and pain of a relationship, offer it up to God. Do this over and over, and you will find your love is being freed of its clinging, possessive quality and becoming more a tender feeling.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/9/10

If you want to get out of the blessings of God, let envy enter into your spirit. Envy will attack you from behind. It lives disguised, never quite showing its face, surfacing instead as a critical comment, the guilty pleasure at a friend's challenges or a private act.

When envy is particularly well hidden, we may not even be able to place a name on it. We just find that certain people irritate us or "make" us feel we beneath them in areas of our lives.

Envy can be challenging to look at and challenging to admit. So, ask God to reveal envy if it is in you - if it is hidden in you! This way it won't erupt and cause a broken partnership or a family quarrel.

But, if you want to keep it hidden, it will be challenging to deal with. Envy can also seem like resentment, perhaps, or a sense of dissatisfaction with your life, your economic status, or your own family.

For many people, envy simply merges with an overall feeling of not being quite good enough. And, we know this is not how God looks at us! We are the apple of His eye. Don't believe the lie and don't allow envy to take hold of your spirit. In God, there is nothing to envy.

Much love,
Joseph

Thought For Today - 3/8/10

There will come a time in your life that you will have the courage to speak your mind and use your voice to send the desire of your heart from your inner being to the outside world. This is taking a bold step forward to inner freedom and from fear.

Once we remove fear of what others may think and expectation of what others should understand, we free ourselves and our thoughts from the bondage of the mental prison and let loose our desires onto an new world.

Next time you become aware that you have a choice about how to communicate, you can choose to use your outside voice and watch its creative power at work.

Begin today to walk in freedom and not fear.

Joseph

The first step in having a prosperous souls is always to realize that God is smarter than you. He is trying to speak to you on your level about concepts that are not on your level.

He knows that the answers to the problems that you have are not on that plane of your understanding; if they were, then you would be able to solve them yourself!

I use to believe I had humility and I suppose many other think the same thing. To my surprise, when we have humility, we will submit to the expertise of others with ease.

We will not become arrogance and have an attitude towards others. But, will posses a genuine interest in others. Humility, is believing and acting just like every other person on this plant are just as important as we are.

Something to think about?

Many ask me why I practice Yoga. Their asking is for the most part directed towards they physical practice. Yoga is spirit, mind and body.

Coming from the physical or body part of my Yoga practice has help me rid myself of medical disease such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol just to name a few.

What I have experienced from a physical Yoga practice is the quality of life I now have. It is great. I'm in the best physical shape I have ever been in for all the years I have been born.

Not only is my physical Yoga practice impressive at age 53, but I also have more peace and rest in my spirit, I'm happy and I have more love and compassion than ever!

Yoga will help you grow older in grace and welcome the wonderful changes life has to offer without fear. However, many in this culture can't see this due their busyness of buying and selling or shopping and acquiring.

Joseph

How about starting this month off with the following confession/prayer?

I know God’s plans are to prosper me and not to harm me. His plans are to give me hope and a future. I delight myself in the Lord and desire His perfect plan for my life, and He gives me the desires of my heart.

I believe God’s promises are for me. I love the Lord and walk in love toward others, forgive the offenses of others, am a giver, offer God my praise and thanksgiving, have a well body, am free from fear, am prosperous, and I am covered in THE BLESSING.

Much love,
Joseph
