Thought For Today - 10/13/08

You have heard the saying "don't burn your bridges." Some bridges you need to burn and destroy completely. Why? Because you will never go back that way.

Trust your heart. Maybe, even thank those individuals who helped you get to where you are on your journey. You may even be thankful for the places, things and experiences that shaped you.

Now, it’s time to pick up and leave. Say good-bye with love and appreciation in your heart – knowing you will never come back that way. Do burn and destroy that bridge!

Much love,
Joseph

I agree! People often come into our lives for a specific reason: to teach us a lesson, to show us opportunities for personal growth, to strenghten other relationships, or even to provide an example of someone we do not want to emulate. In some cases, those people are only meant to be a temporary force in our lives. In fact, it can be MORE destructive to try to keep that person in our lives rather than let them go once we have learned the lesson they were designed to teach us. We need to burn that bridge to continue our own personal growth. However, as you pointed out, this must be done with love and appreciation instead of anger.
